I have just been tasked with revamping our network firewall.
I've been raiding FTP sites, buying books, subscribing to lists, reading
newsgroups, and more to get info on the subject (and there is a *LOT* of it).
After wading through the firewalls archives, I haven't found much in the way
of an OS preference for building a Sun firewall. What's the general opinion?
I am leaning towards SunOS 4.1.x (4.1.3) rather than Solaris for two reasons.
1. I am more familiar with SunOS than Solaris.
2. SunOS has been around longer and has had more of a chance for any bugs
to be worked out. Solaris is newer code and (potentially) has more bugs
or holes that have yet to be discovered.
Is there any other factors you can point out to me? I appreciate any assistance
you can give me.
