I guess I should have punctuated my original comment with (:-).  

Seriously,  I don't know of any FORTUNE 100 CEOs or CIOs who have either the 
time or interest in poking fingers into MIS technical decisions.  THOSE guys
have probably learned their lessions screwing up smaller companies.

Sadly for the smaller companies, there does occur a degree of executive
foolishry.
