Both SNK and Cryptocard are based on ANSI X9.9 authentication standards,
but there is an ambiguity in the standard that allows dual interpretation
of the challenge: is it binary, or is it ASCII?
Our "SafeWord" authentication software supports both of these cards,
but if I recall correctly, we treat them as separate devices because
of this ambiguity. Our "DES Gold" cards can be programmed to operate
both ways, and so can emulate either card.
Note: If you are using TIS, you have a SafeWord interface built in.
