	 I was just provided a copy (will be glad to forward to those with a
	 fat lot of disk) of US NIST FIPS PUB 190 on enhanced authentication,
	 DES, SmartCArd and BioMetrics.  I found it rich with in-bred
	 references to the work of NIST and scarce of community wisdom in its
	 references.
