So that I don't have to depend on my vendor staying in business to support
me. After all, they're in the litigation firing line. Besides, I've had too
many horses die under me and leaving me without a path to another source.

Also, with the source I have a better chance of understanding *how* it works.
Having the source to FreeBSD has made me so much better able to support our
OSF/1 people, and that's not even the same O/S. For something that's as custom
as a firewall that's even more important.

The other thing I'm maniac about the source to is backup software. I don't ever
want to be in the position of being unable to restore the tapes in the offsite 
storage area because the last system that ran *that* backup software can't be 
fixed.
