I've setup a number of sites with 56K lines, cnews (most groups except
alt), email, Cern proxy and as many as 60 users on the internal subnets
with no problems. Of course the Web was not essential to most users.
As long as you monitor the news bandwidth, and watch the proxy logs
for excessive www.penthousemag.com and www.playboy.com access during
business hours.
If you have the budget, go for a faster line, especially here in the
South SF bay area where ISPs are plentiful and Centrex ISDN is often
available but don't waste too much budget on bandwidth unless you have
mission critical apps which need it.
I'm not aware of any filter/firewall software that would be a bottleneck
at anything under T1 speed.
