I agree with you. It is kind of foolish if you can do it yourself and
unserstand how.
Also I have to cast my vote for *BSD Freebsd or Netbsd. Linux is just to
unsecure i feel personally. *BSD has been around a long time. It is a
weathered OS. And I feel it is easy to code for. And since alot of OS's
are based on *BSD (SunOS etc...) it is easy to port to other platforms
later on.
