This is the point: uncertainty about the internals of the cards.

Of course, I (like many others) would like to know more about securid's
internals since rumors about alleged weaknesses and exploitation of
alleged weaknesses are circulating.

Apart from a commercial decision (that is, the card licenses and
expiration of licences), what is the point of keeping securid
internals secret?
