Subject: Proxy firewall questions

I?m modifying a Windows based FTP client for supporting
connections through FTP proxy firewalls. I?d like to ask a couple of
questions that may influence changes in our UI design for supporting
FTP connections through firewalls. You may respond privately or on
the mailing list.

a) How often (if ever) is it the case that there is more than one proxy
firewall either protecting an End System from the internet or
protecting different segments of the End system from other parts of
the End System? Another way to ask the question is how often would
a user need to be aware of multiple proxy firewalls? I am asking to
determine whether our UI should provide convenient support for
multiple firewalls from which the user can choose or whether it should
suffice to support 1 firewall through which users make all
connections. I hope the question is clear.

b) Is it likely that firewall administrators will object if the user is
permitted to save their firewall password, in an encrypted form, in a
configuration file so that it is not necessary to enter the firewall
password for each connection that is established?

Thanks
