You should be giving Netscape the hostname of your proxy server as the
name of the News server. Then, as long as you have plug-gw set up
correctly (in netperm-table), plug-gw should simply take your news
requests and pass them along to the external server. I do notice one
problem though: when Netscape is done downloading the active file
(basically a LIST command, apparently) I get an error message from
Netscape, something about "an error occured on the server, please contact
your administrator..." However, I can continue to read news without
trouble.

It seems as though there are a few problems with the http-gw that is
distributed with the toolkit. There is a newer version of http-gw in the
patches subdirectory on TIS' server; get it, compile it, use it: it solved
my problems (specifically ftp thru http-gw).
