Check out a thing called Geotraceman.  One of the authors is Scott
Pleitner (scott @
 cs .
 curtin .
 edu .
 au).  Geotraceman will do what you ask
for, show you the geographical route for a packet.  I went to a
session at the last AUUG conference on Geotraceman, looked like a very
cool tool and would be heaps better if there was an automagic way of
getting the ICBM address of a site, there was some talk of adding this
to DNS, I don't know how far that has gone....

Now all the budding comedians will have wet socks.... :-)
