I don't think there is anything better than that in public domain and
for DOS. EthLoad is not good for decoding a packet.
It's my opinion that you are wasting time to search
in the public domain.

There are quite a few inexpensive sniffer-alikes around for DOS. 
To name a few:

	1) Triticom sells one close to $1000
	   http://www.triticom.com/ - to get a non-functional demo
	2) Klos Technology sells PacketView for $400-$500?
           I forget its web location, but I can dig it up if you
	   want it.
	3) Cerulean Software's Tesla LAN analyzer goes for $695.
	   The best if you also happen to work with snmp.
	   http://www.redmaple.com/~tesla - real version with one
	   restrication - every Nth frames are blanked.
