We use NetWare/IP here a fair amount.  It works great through routers.  I
don't think that it helps the firewalls issue though.  As I recall, it uses
UDP packets for most of the transmissions.  Most firewalls don't appreciate
UDP packets.

Have you considered implementing NetWare/ IP ?

If you used this product, you can eliminate IPX on the backbone and
facilitate your firewalls.
