Try getting RFC1179. Its title is "Line Printer Daemon Protocol"
I also wrote the RFC number 1522 on my notes but don't remember why. Try look
at that too. It might be something totally different.
You can also look at the RFC 1486. Its titlt is
"An Experiment in Remote Printing".
Had a problem some time ago concerning locking of LPD. You are welcome to mail
any question about how to solve that if thats your problem.
