Can't shed any more light on it than this, which I received in today's mail:

Don't know the truth of it, but there may be some substance.


Adendum:
This is about 3 months old.
The 2.04g is the last valid version of PKUNZIP
Do NOT use any versions more recent.
The 240g version allows the "-&" option to span multiple
disks with a single zip file.
