Subject: Netscape PCs NCSA WWW caching proxying server and ftp

I have the following:

  fwtk from TIS,
NCSA's WWW server, configured as a caching proxy
  Netscape 2.0 on a PC

Given this combination and given that I'm using the NCSA stuff rather than
the fwtk's http proxy, as I want the caching, I can't download anything
via ftp etc. Seems to work on the Suns ok (Solaris 2.3/2.4) which confuses
me completely.

Can anyone offer me any insight on this ? Further - I thought that the
caching facility on the WWW proxy would have made access almost instant once
a page had been cached. Doesn't seem to .. still seems to try to connect to
the site first - is that what's expected ? Is it because of the expiry thing?

Thanks for your help,
Danny
