I know of two 8th grade students that are becoming quite fluent in it, all 
learned off the web, from tutorials.  Im quite impressed with their 
learning rate and grasp of even the more complex aspects of perl.  I'd 
hate to see them with any heavy duty hacker scripts as i know they could 
pick them apart in a few weeks.
