I compared Eagle NT features with Gauntlet (I know, not fair)
and compiling a list of the proxies turned out to be educational.
Eagle NT 3.0 Gauntlet 3.1
· Transparent Telnet · Transparent Telnet
· Authenticated Telnet · Authenticated Telnet
· Transparent Http · Transparent Http
· Proxied Http · Proxied Http
· Proxied Gopher · Proxied Gopher
· Transparent FTP · Transparent FTP
· Authenticated FTP · Authenticated FTP
· Transparent SMTP · SMAP/Sendmail
(No sendmail/mail relay
capabilities)
· rlogin
· rsh
· X-11
· Finger
· Printer
· POP3
· Administrative GUI (info-gw)
Non-proxied service for NNTP, Whois, Real Audio, quotd,
(unauthenticated, directionally savvy port 'service(s)'):
· Proxyd · plug-gw
Eagle also includes 'Generic pass-through', an unauthenticated,
directionally clueless open port 'service'. Must be the only
'real way' to punch a hole in your firewall.
Authentication methods supported:
Eagle NT Gauntlet
· S/Key · S/Key
· Password list · Enigma Logistics devices
· SecureID (Security Dynamics)
· SecurNet (Digital Pathways)
· CryptoCard
· DigiPass
A more fair comparison would be with the Eagle Raptor UNIX vs.
Gauntlet.
Feel free to correct my list!
