I hear that some companies have a problem with e-mail sent from web browsers
used by internal users When the mail is sent from the web browser there
is no way that the addressees can tell if it really came from the person
whose name is given as the sender This is a sharp contrast with the
corporate mail mail system where the sender is authenticated
Consider the following message
To Mailing List, Accounts Division
>From Help Desk
The Help Desk is trying to identify performance problems in the backend
database of the accounting system It is important for users to cooperate
with us in identifying the cause of this problem The Help Desk may contact
you and ask for your user id and password as they try to pin down the
problem affecting particular users We apologize for this inconvenience
and we are very grateful for your assistance
Help Desk
Of course the person who phones the users in Accounts Division does not
work for the Help Desk In fact they dont even work for the same company
1) If some users are using Netscape to send mail while others are using
cc:Mail how can this kind of scenario be prevented?
2) Someone said that SmartGate from V-One could be run on a TIS Gauntlet
to provide authentication of messages from web clients True or false?
