Ah, of course not. It depends on the Connections between the hosts, if u
have:


                               a
                             / | \
                            h1 h2 h3
(- = prefered data path)

Then the load on Port a is the same, with or without a switch, but if you
have:

                    h1-h2
                    h3-h4

You basically double the bandwith of your network with a switch.
