It's a bug. I reported it to netscape over 6 months ago.
What I found really annoying was that the radio
button doesn't reflect what it's actually using.

SInce we don't use proxies on our connection, the simplest
thing was to leave the manual and automatic proxy
settings blank, so if one of them gets selected, it stil works.

Subject: Netscape ?

Hi,

THis might not be the right place. But let me try ....

Every time we use netscape, we have to occasionally switch over
under the Options
  Network Preferences
   Proxies

either to No Proxies mode or Manual Proxy configuration or
Automatic Proxy Configuration .

I have to try either of these to get me to sites on the internet.

Why is this ?

I mean, I see that if I leave it for Manual Proxy config, it might work
for the first time, the next day I might have to switch to
Automatic Proxy Configuration, then maybe No Proxy option.

Whay can't the Netscape server be smart enough to figure out
which proxy option to adopt and stay there ?
Has anybody faced such a problem ?
Has it go to do anything with name resolution not being working
properly ?

Any hints ????

Thanks in advance !!
