Hi
I am involved in an Intranet network design. The Intranet will cover quite a
large community of users among which an average 10% will need simultaneous
access to the Public internet. I am thinking of using CISCO PIX firewalls
to handle the Network Address Translation (NAT) as each box can handle up to
16384 users and it's easy to configure. However, it's an expensive solution.
Is it possible to use Proxy servers instead? Do I really need a firewall
between the Intranet and the outside world? Although security is one of my
concerns, the priority is to save IP registered addresses as much as
possible.
Cheers
Karim
