I strongly recommend gated, if your network were security sensitive
or its configuration changes frequently. In our site, we are using
gated-R3_5Beta_3. It works fine Solaris and AIX3, although it is 
beta version. Unfortunately, it could not be installed on some type of
unix, such as News-os due to compilation trouble.

We had been often suffered from the accident in which DNS server got
disabled due to the routing table disordered by illegal RIP packet
from the router connected illegally. So, we replaced routed with
gated on all the servers (DNS and MX).
