Whomever cares :)
After not getting a response on my offer to compile tripwire
on linux (just asked for a simple URL.... :() I did this:
Linux version: 2.0.20
----------------------------------------------------------------
Did a search on www.excite.com...
----------------------------------------------------------------
ftped tripwire-1.2 from coast.cs.purdue.edu
----------------------------------------------------------------
untarred the archive.
----------------------------------------------------------------
read README and PORTED (it said linux 0.99 ??)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Type make: worked fine, flawless.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Type make install. worked fine after making the /secureplace/bin
directory.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I can't say 'thanks for the pointer', even though I wanted to
know the EXACT tar archive the poster was having problems
with.
But, just doing a easy w3 search, and typing make... it worked
just fine and dandy.
Fir E. Walls
(aka Tim Bass, just temporarily lurking here for fun)
BYE.
PS: I was somewhat disappointed there was no 'crackerjack prize'
when tripwire compiled 'out of the box' (OTB). A nice decoder
ring or a PGP key in a chinese fortune cookie would be
nice.
As a matter of fact, that might be a nice fiction element:
Chinese fortune cookies with PGP public keys and addresses
of secret people in dark smokey bars....
Back to reality Mr. Fir, EEEEEEEEEE. Anyway, tripwire compiled
on linux out of the box for me.....
