Except patent stuff.  Here in Germany you can't patent algorithms, so
this doesn't matter here.  However, at least IDEA has been patented
internationally and you have to pay royalties for commercial use if
you are in a country where algorithms are patentable.

IIRC you don't have to pay royalties for using DES, so this might
actually be a reason to use it.
