My understanding is that MS Proxy is not capable of
being a downstream proxy (ie. it has to be a root
proxy, you can't point it at another proxy).  MS
have been saying  that their next release will
support this but we've been unable to find when
that's due.

It's a problem for us as we want the auto NT user
database authentication that it supports but
don't want to have a NT server running MS Proxy
sitting between internal and internet networks.

Harvest/Netscape/Squid proxies don't support the
NT user base but Netscape and Harvest support user
authentication via a separate database.
