What is services port 113?

Currently I have an SMTP gateway connected directly to the internet
for inbound SMTP mail dilevery. I have been seeing alot of TCP
traffic to it destined for TCP port 113.

Does anyone know what this port is used for and
if there are know problems with it concerning possible attacks?
