Now *THERE* is a case for key "escrow" if I ever saw one:
escrowing government keys for civil oversight. Indeed, there
is a good argument for introducing legislation that all keys
used by the executive branch and intelligence community
should be "escrowed" with the national archives. That way
when there's yet another <yawn> case of government
corruption and coverup, The American People will be able
to find the guilty parties. After all, as anyone can tell you,
the various generations of clowns in DC have done more
damage to the US than all the terrorists and cypherpunks
combined...
Shall we take up a collection and buy a couple of
congresscritters and reps and see if we can get the
"government key escrow" written into law? Next,
we need to mandate Presidential Pants Recorders
(not to be confused with Network Flight Recorders)
that monitor inter-and-extra pants transactions of
the executive branch for later replay and analysis.
[note: I have nothing particular against the Clinton
administration. I'm not partisan. I wouldn't wipe my
cat's litter box out with any of the leading luminaries
of either party, for fear of offending my cat.]
