Hi Ken,
A couple of very good shrink-wrapped tools I've used are Chariot from Ganymede
Software Inc. (Research Triangle Park, NC, www.ganymedesoftware.com) and Chisel
from Network Tools Inc. (San Jose, Calif., www.networktools.com).
Ganymede is a group of ex-IBMers and its product supports IPX and SNA as well as
IP. Network Tools' Chisel offers *very* granular control over IP traffic; I
think it comes with canned Web server and firewall performance testing modules.
One product that has not worked well for us is SGI's Webstones. I've heard lots
of folks complain about this as being buggy, but it was the only thing out there
for a long time.
