What is this "registered" business.

OK, I'm not up on all the various mailing list software or mail
handlers or what not out there, but I seem to periodically be flooded
by requests like:

>To: owner-fatfree <owner-fatfree@hustle.rahul.net>
>Subject: Registered: [users name]

What the f*ck?

I just delete 'em.
