Your unsubscribe request may have had to go to the owner for processing/
approval, so be patient. If you were receiving a digest, are you sure you
unsubscribed to the correct list? You may have unsubscribed from the
"regular" list and not the "digest" list.
It's easy enough to find out if you are on the userbase. Send "who <listname>"
(without the quotes) to majordomo@site.edu (substitute address for list in
question) and look for your name in the reply.
After waiting a few days, you can then send mail to the list owner if you are
still getting mail from that list. As a last resort, contact their postmaster
or provider.
I think a user's request to unsubscribe should always be honored and acted upon
promptly. But don't expect an unsubscribe to take effect instantly.
