I think it would be a neat extension to list management software to allow
extensible filtering.  Existing filter in (for example) Majordomo catch
"(un)subscribe", but it's absolutely amazing to me how many people cannot
spell "subscribe" correctly.  It would be useful to adapt the filtering
without changing the code, and that sort of filter could be used as a
"profanity" filter for those who care, without affecting those who don't.
