I Cc:ed a message to this list earlier this morning addressing an issue
of bounced mail from compuserve, "America Online" was a typo. The
message addressed the compuserve staff rather than the list-managers
group. My apologies for the confusion, I Cc:ed for a witness.
My gripe here is that compuserve (and perhaps others) is making no effort
in controlling bounced mail from their origin. It is my understanding
they offer free trial accounts in which people subscribe, place a
.forward to @compuserve.com, and eventually abandon the account. The
result is a few dozen bounced messages in my mail queue each day that I
don't have time to trace. I feel it is not my responsibility to clean up
this mess, but rather compuserve's to control their accounting more
closely with these "free trials."
Kind regards,
-zeek
