Hi all,

I'm from a smallish software company and am looking to set up a mailing
list for our users. First thing I did was grab Norm Aleks' MAILING LIST
MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FAQ.

Now this has convinced me that a manually driven mailing list may be my
answer because:

  1. Our mailing list will be small - only 50 - 150 subscribers

  2. The subscriber list will be pretty stable (1-2 changes per month)

  3. I envisage fairly low message volume

  4. The list will be moderated by me

  5. I don't have a lot of time to learn an proper MLM

But now I've decided to go manual - I need some help.

The above document says that the best way to go manual is to "bounce"
incoming mail to a list. Also it recommends using Bcc for the distribution
list to ensure replys come back. So my first two questions are:

  1. I can't understand how bouncing will work. Won't the reply address
be set to the originator rather than the mailing list?

  2. What's the difference between Bcc and just plain cc?

>From what I can figure, the best way might be for the mailing list user
to forward incoming mail to a distribution list. The original sender
may be lost in the header, but we can encourage people to sign each posting.
By using forward, all replys will come back properly (won't they?)

I'm going to use elm and hope to kick off in the next couple of weeks so
any hints or tips would be gratefully accepted. Please excuse my ignorance
in (what must be) basic mail concepts. I've done lots of reading but can't
seem to find out what it all means.

Regards,
