Hey, I can answer this one!  I just finished asking David the same thing.
The gist of his answer is that one of their mail-admins decided to try to
establish multiple mailqueues, categorising mail based on their likelihood
of delivery.  The inevitable bug that cropped up caused several mails to
be delayed well beyond when they should've been, so now there's a bunch
of really late AOL mail being delivered now.  It should clear itself up
in a couple weeks.
