According to unnamed sources, James B. Byrne is alleged to have written
=> From a customer service point of view it would be better to determine
=> the actual cost of performing the work, double it and tell them that
=> they can have the service performed for the price stated. Then it is
=> their choice. No one can be compelled to work for free.

=> If they accept the fee then you are not out as you are being paid the
=> fee that you determine was fair. If they decide that the work is too
=> expensive then that it their decision.
A caution: Many employment agreements forbid working outside the
job. Also, if the mailing list is on your employer's property, you'd
be asking for money to modify your employer's environment. This is
a potentially touchy issue for some employers.
