Active mailing lists have postings from users with VERY different
accuracies on their home platforms. This means that the Date field in
their messages can vary quite a bit. And THIS means a recipient systems
which sorts messages by the Date field can get them very much out of order.
Having the list processor change the date field to its own time, e.g, when
it receives the message, means that all messages on a list will have a data
value that orders them correctly in terms of a reasonable reference.
