That's a reasonably valid point to make.  It doesn't change the fact that
we have no other choice, and that in fact it is a perfectly valid response
to Netcom's irresponsibility.  The equivalency of ix.netcom.com addresses
has achieved de-facto status.  By the same reasoning, Netcom could decide
to change all of its user names, but we have no alternative except to
assume that it won't.

Or do you have an alternate solution?
