I must ask:
How exactly do you expect Internic to verify postal addresses and
phone numbers? Are they supposed to call/mail every single contact? Do
you realize the number of people it would take to verify the hundreds
of thousands of phone numbers and addresses? How about the cost in
postage and phone tolls? And how often are they going to do this?
Every year? Every month? Every day?
I'm happy to pay my $50 a year to Internic to have them keep a top
level record of my domain, and maintain their infrastructure. I don't
want to double or triple my fees just so that Internic can verify my
postal address and phone number are right. It would help very
marginally against spammers and only then for a limited amount of time
(as history has shown us). I'm not willing to permanently increase my
Internic bill for that gain.
