One of the more common logical short-circuits in examining the SPAM
model is that it much of anything to do with generating sales. Look at
the business model. SPAM is not and need not be profitable to the
things being advertised. It only needs to be profitable to the
companies selling the email lists, the send-your-spam-for-you services
etc. Its a wonderful thing: No obligation to make money, no audit or
ROI metrics, no actual value generated, just the vapid unsupportable
promise that, "out of N million eyeballs at least SOME must buy your
product or become aware of your brand!"
SPAM, its not just a pain any more, its a confidence scheme.
