To answer your question based in experimental evidence (that is, I
tried it this morning): they allow you to think you have posted to
the list. That is, I said I wanted to post a response to your
message, and they gave me a way to do it, and I sent it in, and the
response I wrote appears neither on their UI to the list nor on this
list itself.
Hopefully other interfaces to mailing lists handle this interaction
better than Yahoo...
