Broadly I agree that you shouldn't compel every list admin to
use the same set of rules... What sorts of situations would be
appropriate for unconfirmed subscriptions? I could see unconfirmed
subscribes in some compulsory situations, such as a working group
in a business or a group of students in a classroom. There are
some similar situations where someone might be compelled,
obligated or presumed appropriate to join a mailing list.
Without a good reason, I wouldn't allow a list admin to choose
not to use confirmations. Your mileage may vary. I am curious as
to the situations you would find acceptable for unconfirmed
subscriptions.
I'm looking for a rehash of the whole debate on why confirmed
subscribes should or should not be. I'd just like to know what
situations folks find acceptable for not using confirmations.
