Yes.  And there is a reason for that.  So before you do something that
everyone else has decided is a very bad idea, be sure that you really
understand all of the issues.

Now if you have some other way to ensure that no subscription request is
forged then maybe you can do with out this.

Yes.  Read the configure file for the list.  It's clearly explained in the
comments
