mkdigest configuration

Dear Docs-ers
I am starting to work with digests,
I've read about lots of controls set up for mkdigest
like (make a digest every N mails). Is this right?
Where can I find all docs about mkdigest?
I've started reading the perl code, but it's
rather "articulated" you know..
