No, I'm not subscribed to the list. I'm not in /usr/local/majordomo/lists/mailinglist, and when I email from awilliam@mdah.state.ms.us to majordomo@mdah.state.ms.us the lists command, it shows the list that i put /.*/ in the noadvertise section, but when i use adam_williams@bellsouth.net to email majordomo, it works properly and does not show the list that I added the /.*/ too. Majordomo 1.94.5 will show you lists you are subscribed to regardless of the advertise/noadvertise settings. Do make sure however, that you are not using /.*/ in both places at once. That defeats the purpose. The munging of domain names could also come into play, where your addresses in subdomain.domain.com appear to majordomo as domain.com. Lastly, to test the noadvertise capability, make sure any custom setting in your mail client is not setting a sender or reply-to address in the headers that would tell majordomo to advertise the lists to you. Also important but I have not looked in quite some time, is the owner/moderator/approver settings that may contain your address. I=B4ve set up majordomo along with qmail and at first it works. When I try to set "strip" to "no" and put something like "Thomas" =20 into the list file the majordomo quits and =20 says that everything is fine. But when I now send an eMail to this list I get an mail frrom qmail =20 mailer-daemon saying that there is no domain <"Thomas" =20 >. Notice that there are two angle brackets =20 at the end! This is whats the problem. For some reason majordomo or qmail put =20 angle brackets around the whole entry in the list file. Can anybody give me a hint where to turn this off or is it a qmail problem? You are trying to do something outside majordomo's control. It would be easiest if the user needing to see messages to a list distributed by majordomo just subzcribe to the list. Since the sendmail aliases file for the list can also contain many recipients, managed by the postmaster/admin user, this is another way a user can be added to a distribution without having to subzcribe. Sorry I have not been responsive to these requests, but my full time job had me working non-stop for about 3 weeks including weekends. I am just now catching up on sleep and personal time. Certainly, you "could" have an address that is automatically zubscribed to each list you create. You do not need to do anything special to BCC the address either. To help make that user's mail easier to manage, you could also configure procmail to sort/file messages from each list into separate IMAP folders. POP does not have a mechanism at the server to hold read/unread flags for each message. Is the motive behind your questions something related to SOX compliance?
