Most of the Majordomo documentation assumes that the reader is
experienced with mailing list administration. I'm not, and the answer
to a simple question is not clear to me:
If I set up a list, how can I make it easy for new subscribers to find
out what messages have been posted before? I suspect that I have to set
up digests, and that I then have to move these digests into the files
directories, but this seems a bit cumbersome, so before I start to do
this I thought that I would ask.
I did try the command mkdigest list PASSWORD to create digests, but all
I get is:
>>>> mkdigest list PASSWORD
*** digest: failed errors follow
No messages.
Stopped
ABORT No messages.
Stopped at majordomo.pl line 209, <_GEN_0> line 1.
If there is a step-by-step guide (this is 1.92) it would help. I'll try
again with the FAQ and previous postings, but the software changes much
more rapidly than the documentation and a lot of what I read seems to be
obsolete.
