I'm the Majordomo manager for Real/Time Communications. We're using
Revision 1.51 (1993/10/17) of Majordomo.
A while back I set up a Majordomo list for archiving our correspondence with
the NIC. I made the totally embarassing mistake of subscribing the NIC to
the list via Majordomo rather than adding the name manually to the list.
The resulting 'welcome' message from Majordomo set off an auto-responder war
which resulted in panic email and phone calls from them (while I was out of
town). My face was quite red :-(
What we need is a way to implement a list of addresses to which Majordomo
will >never< send automated mail. This should include any auto-responders
which we might want to include in any list. I could hack this into the code
we have, however we'd rather use 'official' code for this if it's available.
On another matter, one of our Majordomo list managers requested a facility
whereby mailing list members might have the option of receiving a monthly
archive of list traffic rather than a copy of each item. Has such a
feature been added or considered? Apparently some list management software
implements such a feature, although I don't know which.
