A slightly frivolous idea that someone might like to take up....

How about a program, perhaps called 'extinguisher', which spots and
puts out flame wars!

It could look for subject lines which appear more than a
specified number of times, and look for lots of citations, interspersed
with comments such as 'No, you're wrong', 'This is just plain wrong',
'IMHO', 'Of course.' and so on. The offenders could then be warned and
if they persist be banned from the list...

Useful if you're away for any length of time and can't intervene.

Seriously, though, the autobounce idea sounds great.
