Well, you'd better hope that the file isn't empty when that cron job
runs. :-/ I use RCS instead and run "ci -l" from a little script in my
"majordom" crontab. If there are changes, it checks the new file into
RCS. The nice thing about this, besides being able to get back the
subscriber list, is that I can get *any* subscriber list. Say I want
to count the number of list members who've been on for more than a
year, or I realize that the subscribers file was zeroed three days ago
but I hadn't noticed until now, or whatever: the RCS backups are nice
to have. They don't take much room, either, because RCS just stores
the differences between versions.
