I actually have gateways going both ways: for the primarily-news
lists, messages from the newsgroup are sent to the mailing list, and
messages from the mailing list are posted to the newsgroup *only*.
Other list members only see the messages once they are posted to the
group and sent on through mail. This keeps it from looping.
For the primarily-mail lists, messages to the mailing list are posted
to the newsgroup. If someone posts to the newsgroup, it's sent *only*
to the mailing list, and appears in the newsgroup after going to the
mailing list.
Both of these types use the "mail2news" and "news2mail" programs, with
majordomo lists.
